Umrah Visa Rules 2026: What UAE Residents Need to Know

If you are a UAE resident planning Umrah in 2026, three things matter most: your Umrah visa must be used to enter Saudi Arabia within 30 days of issue, applications should be made roughly three weeks before departure, and you will need a copy of your Emirates ID (front and back) alongside your passport. Processing takes 3 to 5 working days. Everything else is detail, and it follows below.

What changed for 2026

The main change is timing. In earlier years agencies applied for visas as soon as a booking was made, sometimes months ahead. Under current guidance the visa is tied to a 30-day entry window, so applying early no longer helps and can cause a visa to lapse before travel. We now apply about three weeks before your departure date, which leaves room for any query from the Saudi side without risking the window.

The second change is documentation. The Emirates ID copy is now requested for UAE residents alongside the passport and residence visa. It is a small thing, and it is the item most often missing from the first set of documents people send us.

Documents you will need

• Passport with at least six months validity from your travel date
• UAE residence visa page
• Emirates ID, front and back
• One passport photograph on a white background
• Vaccination record where required for your nationality

How long it takes

From the moment we have a complete set of documents, an Umrah visa is usually issued within 3 to 5 working days. We send a WhatsApp update when the application is submitted, when it is approved, and when the visa document is ready. If anything is queried, you hear about it the same day.

Umrah visa or tourist visa?

If you want to combine Umrah with time elsewhere in Saudi Arabia, or you may travel more than once in the year, a Saudi tourist visa can be the better choice. It is multiple-entry and valid for a year with stays of up to 90 days. For a single, focused trip the Umrah visa is simpler and cheaper.

Travelling as a woman without a mahram

Current rules allow women to perform Umrah without a mahram. Nothing extra is needed on the visa application. Many women prefer to travel in our ladies-only group, which has a female guide and shared rooms confirmed before departure.
